The John Oliver Collection: Turning Heads in D.C.

Brianna Lindsey, 27, created Washington D.C. based clothing brand “The John Oliver Collection” in 2016. Her brand’s mission is to provide a timeless and unique variety of clothing that caters to all styles. The passing of her grandfather, John Oliver Lindsey, inspired her to pursue her career as a designer.

Lindsey started out as a model and later realized designing was more her forte. She has had a passion for clothing and recreating designs ever since she was in middle school. “I’ve been able to design for DC fashion week and showcase my designs at local pop-up shops,” said Lindsey.

Lindsey’s handmade pieces allow customers to request adjustments that match their individuality. She wants people to thrive in creativity with clothing. “Specializing in recreations, it’s always nice to see the transformation of an item whether it be making a skirt from pants or making a two piece from a thrifted blanket,” Lindsey says. “I want people to realize the possibilities are endless when it comes to fashion”

One of Lindsey’s fashion inspirations is Rihanna. She also takes inspiration from herself as a creative and finds fashion inspo through researching different eras. “My long term goal is to provide an outlet for individuals to express themselves through clothing,” she said. Lindsey also wants to bridge street wear looks to classy looks.
