It’s that time of year when hibernation mode is activated. You just want to relax and stream your favorite series with loved ones. If you’ve run out of things to watch, I got you! Here’s a list of 5 shows I recommend watching this Fall season.
Insecure (HBO Max)
If you know, you know! This show follows best friends, Issa and Molly, two professional black women navigating their day-to-day lives. It brings their insecurities forward in a comedic and authentic way. The series also showcases social and racial issues as it relates to black culture. Unfortunately, season 5 will be the final one airing on Oct. 24, 2021. Make sure you stream it on Hulu!
Power Book II: Ghost (Starz)
If you’re into gangster storylines, this should be a good fit for you. This series is a spin-off of Power. Tariq St. Patrick is following his deceased father, James St. Patrick AKA Ghost’s footsteps in the drug game while in college. His “college knowledge” allows him to be swift on his feet as he develops strategies that mask what he’s up to. Season 2 airs November 2021 and you can stream it on Hulu!
Blood & Water (Netflix)
The anticipation and drama is real in this series. A teenage girl, Puleng Khumalo, is on a mission to prove whether private-school swimming star, Fikile Bele, is her sister who was abducted at birth. Season 2 aired on Sept. 24, 2021.
Grown-ish (Freeform)
As a spinoff of Black-ish, Grown-ish follows Zoey Johnson’s college experience as she navigates ups and downs realizing things won’t always go as she planned. The sitcom also showcases things many college students experience from friendship, dating, drugs, alcohol, and sex. The first half of season 4 aired on July 8 2021, and is available to stream on Hulu.
Good Trouble (Freeform)
As a spin-off of The Fosters, Good Trouble follows sisters, Callie and Marianna, as they embark on the city of Los Angeles to pursue their careers. Marianna navigates her way in the male-dominated tech industry as an Engineer. Callie battles hardships as a clerk for a federal judge through her journey to becoming a lawyer. The sisters live in a coterie with different walks of life but lean on each other for support navigating the big city, LA. The second half of season 3 aired on July 14, 2021, and is available to stream on Hulu.
If you haven’t already, make sure you give some of these series a shot! Let me know what some of your favorite series are in the comments. (:
