Rap artist and author, Price, stepped foot on the Leimert stage performing songs like “Problems” featuring Wale and “Selfish” featuring Bas and Wyclef Jean. He also gave away his book “Generational Cures” to some people in the audience.

Pop artist, Malachiii, hit the Elevate Culture stage performing songs like “Hold Me” and “Back When We Were Kids.”

Juneteenth is now an official U.S. holiday commemorating the day in 1865 when black slaves in Galveston, Texas, were informed that they were free. It is a day to celebrate black culture despite all adversities and social injustices pinned against us.

Leimert Park marks a historical landmark for black culture in Los Angeles. Through gentrification and changing demographics taking over other black neighborhoods in LA, Leimert Park stands as a majority black community. The joy that was cultivated throughout the festival in Crenshaw was a celebratory moment for the culture.
