Lessons Six Months into 2021: The Haves and Have Nots

I can’t believe we are halfway through the year as I write this post. I’ve been reflecting on things that have happened in my life this year. I realized how much I have grown and how I have some more growing to do (inevitably). Below are 3 lessons I have learned and 3 lessons I should learn before the year is over.

Lessons Learned

  1. The value of Patience

I’ve been told by many people that I lack patience especially when it comes to accomplishing my goals. I have always been eager to see the end result rather than appreciating the process or the journey. I learned that great things take time and I can’t expect things to happen over night. Also, I’ve crossed paths with people and experienced things that have prepared me for my accomplishments.

  1. Criticism is necessary for growth

No matter how much I used to hate critique, I know it is the only way I will ever get better. I’ve learned to be more open-minded to accepting feedback rather than being defensive. It’s important to always be teachable otherwise you’re only holding yourself back.

  1. There is reward in risk taking

I took a leap of faith and decided to shift my “normal.” I’m a natural born writer and storyteller. You wouldn’t have known that during the pandemic. I was not perfecting my craft or connecting with people as much as I should’ve been. I was working odd jobs unrelated to writing. I quit those odd jobs and dedicated myself to leveling up and writing more.

Lessons to Learn

  1. Practicing Gratitude during challenges

When life gets hard, I internalize it. I know that the more challenges are thrown at you, a breakthrough is going to happen. I need to strengthen my faith more during these times.

  1. Being more confident in my abilities

I need to start trusting myself more and not allowing fear or doubt to hold me back. I know I am full of talent and I have a higher purpose. I just need to start showing up as my evolved self.

  1. Being Consistent

I need to hold myself accountable and stay consistent on working out, creating content, and connecting with others. I may be persistent but that doesn’t mean I’m always consistent. I have to do a better job.

Comment below some of the lessons you’ve learned halfway through this year!
