7 Romantic Tips to Make Your long-distance Lover Smile

Just because you and your partner aren’t physically together doesn’t mean you can’t find unique ways to make your lover feel appreciated.”

Being in a long-distance relationship can be an emotional roller-coaster. However, the creativity and effort that goes into keeping the spark alive can be rewarding. Just because you and your partner aren’t physically together doesn’t mean you can’t find unique ways to make your lover feel appreciated.

During my year and a half LDR, my boyfriend and I found several ways to stay connected while being miles apart. I learned that the smallest things can have a great impact and I want to share seven romantic tips you can try in your long-distance relationship.

  1. Create a set schedule to Call each other.

How often you talk to each other is completely up to you, but setting aside a specific time to hear your partner’s voice makes them feel prioritized. Since you’re not physically together and possibly in different time-zones, your individual schedules may conflict. It’s important your partner knows that you value talking to them by facetiming and calling. My boyfriend and I facetimed each other at least once every morning, afternoon, and evening.

  1. Pick a series to watch on Hulu/Netflix together.

Binge-watching a series on Hulu/Netflix can be a fun bonding experience and also gives you and your partner something to look forward to. Get comfortable and watch the series at the same time while on facetime. This was one of my favorites!

  1. Send Cute appreciation Texts.

Sending each other paragraphs expressing the reasons why you love, miss, and care for one another is a romantic gesture that will make you both feel good! It also provides reassurance. I always felt special reading those cute texts from my boyfriend.

  1. Create a Countdown of Your Next Visit.

Having a reminder of the next time you will reunite creates excitement and hope in the relationship. Download a countdown app and customize it with the date you plan to see each other.

  1. Set Goals Together.

Your goals as a couple are just as important as your individual goals. Setting goals together shows that you’re invested in the relationship and see a future with one another.

  1. Send Each other Thoughtful Gifts

There’s nothing like checking the mail to a surprise from your significant other! Unexpected handwritten letters, postcards, flower deliveries etc. will make your partner feel special.

  1. Create a playlist.

Create a playlist of songs that you both enjoy. You can listen to the playlist when you’re thinking of one another. It also gives an opportunity to share new music.

Overall being in a long-distance relationship can be challenging, but it’s not impossible to stay connected. All of these tips helped my relationship when it was long-distance and they may be helpful for you.
